Inga grows up in a small village in Mecklenburg. According to her grandparents her mother died from drowning in the Baltic Sea. 25 years later she meets the literature professor Robert who sends her on the trail of her past. He claims to have met Anna’s mother a few years back during one of his lectures. Inga’s world falls apart when she finds out everyone else new about her mothers flight to West Germany. She encounters silence, repression and feelings of guilt of the others. Why was she left behind by her mother in the GDR? Inga asks Robert for help and together they take off to find her mother and a journey full of secrets begins…
